I loved my career in the pharmacy, but I had a growing family and wanted something more for us. The success I achieved in obtaining my Associate's degree, as well as the success I was achieving in my career, gave me the confidence to push for more. Working in healthcare has many benefits and appeals. What appealed to me most is the concept that healthcare careers are essentially recession proof. As demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic, even during the worst of times - people still need healthcare.

When I was young my stepmother was diagnosed with cancer. I watched her battle the disease for months. She took what seemed like dozen of pills to me each day, and recieved regular chemotherapy treatments. I thought we were going to lose her. Medicine saved her life. I wanted to be a part of that world.
